Automap and Route Notes
A verified Underkeep guide focused on the Rake in Grass dungeon crawler, using confirmed party, exploration, and combat details.
Underkeep uses handcrafted dungeons and an in-game automap with custom markers. Those tools are most useful when a room contains a locked door, suspicious wall, unfinished puzzle, or branch that you want to revisit. The official feature description does not publish a complete floor-by-floor map, so use your own route notes instead of relying on unverified coordinates.
Mark routes as you explore
Move through one section at a time and use a consistent note for each unresolved point. Record a door that needs a key, a wall that looks unusual, or a puzzle whose clue is not yet clear. Keep the marker close to the location where you found it so the reason for returning is easy to remember.
Separate confirmed paths from questions
When a route is open, note that it is passable. For a blocked route, record the visible condition without guessing what unlocks it. If a later item or conversation changes what you know, revisit the mark and update the note.
Use the map after a fight
Turn-based encounters reward planning and can consume stamina or mana. After combat, check the map before moving on: confirm the route, mark nearby unexplored branches, and decide whether the party should continue or return to an earlier point. A clear personal map reduces repeated searches without relying on a map from a different game.
Use a marker consistently: one symbol for a blocked route, another for a puzzle, and a third for a place worth revisiting. Record the marker meaning somewhere visible so another player can read the map without guessing. As you open new routes, update the notes instead of relying on memory. The automap supports custom notes, including reminders about suspicious walls and return points. It does not replace a verified floor-by-floor atlas, so exact room names and coordinates should come from direct observation in the game.
